Baltimore Saints Skate into Innaugural Season
Oct. 16, 2008

The Baltimore Saints began their first season on the ice on October 4th.
The Saints already are up to 37 players to begin the season. Most of the
players are first time skaters and will learn the basics of skating before
using a hockey stick. Many of the players have already graduated to using
a stick and will move on to more advanced skill development, according
to Jim Zinkhan, President and Head Coach of the new ASHA program.
The Baltimore is just one of many new programs due to begin this season;
others include teams in Indianapolis, Buffalo, Dallas, Pittsburgh and
Wisconsin.
American Special Hockey Association is well on its way to its goal of
100 teams nationally by the year 2010, says Mike Hickey, President
of the ASHA. We are very proud of all the hard work done by our programs
to provide the opportunity for our athletes to be able to play at a level adapted
to their ability.
ASHA programs were the fastest growing of any USA Hockey programs in
2007-2008 with an increase 76% over the previous year in number of
USA Hockey registered players.
